               Welcome to the Rose Room

One of my favorite things to do while living in Milwaukee was an event called “Door Open Milwaukee.” Basically, on a specific day, doors of historic homes, churches, hotels, and businesses are open for the public to wander through and explore. For me personally, it was exciting to walk through places that I probably would never have had a chance to see before. (I am proud to say that a wonderful hobby of mine used to be looking up million dollar lakefront homes on Zillow and scrolling through the pictures… so you can only imagine my excitement to actually see some of them in person!) The idea of being able to go almost wherever you want is an exciting one and I loved seizing the opportunity.

That being said… Jon and I would like to inform you that starting now, we are officially beginning an old Milwaukee tradition right here in Linares: Doors Open Chile!

That’s right, Casa Gross is officially open and ready for visitors. While it might not have an insanely cool historic past, our house is definitely historic and with that comes a special charm. Our guest bedroom, also known as the Rose Room because of the beautiful red roses right outside the window, is comfortable and tranquil. You will awake to the smell of Tio Jon’s all-inclusive breakfast and relax at night with a bottle of Chile’s finest (I mean affordable but still delicious) wine. Experience the sights with us as your trusted tour guides. If you prefer a self-guided tour, our loving and protective dog can accompany you and literally drag you to wherever you so desire. When you finally force yourself to leave our beautiful home, you will go feeling rejuvenated and ready to book your next visit.

Now, an offer like Doors Open Chile is not easily given. In order to prepare the wonderful Rose Room, we might have had to do several hours of deep deep deep cleaning and repairs. However, it was a labor of love since it has always been a true desire of ours to share the mission here in Chile with as many people as possible! It would be such a blessing for you to not only stay in the wonderful Rose Room, but also to meet your Chilean brothers and sisters in Christ. Open Doors Chile is an offer that stands year round! Don’t miss out!

It was quite ironic, but as we were working on the Rose Room this past week, I also happened to read John 14 for one of my nightly devotions. In this section of John, Jesus is warning his disciples that soon he will not be with them any longer, physically in this world. Naturally, they freaked out a little. Jesus then reminded them:

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you may be where I am.” John 14:1-3

There is such an excitement that comes with preparing a room for visitors. If that is true, then imagine the pure joy of preparing a room for your own children, children that you suffered and died for. That is the power of Christ and His gift to us. Not only that He paid for our sins but also that because of His death, heaven is our home. He, our Savior, has personally prepared a special room for everyone who believes and trusts in Him, and that special room is much more glorious than our little Rose Room could ever be.

Door Open Milwaukee: A great experience.

Doors Open Chile: An opportunity to meet and worship with fellow Christians in another part of the world.

Doors open Heaven: A lifelong promise from your Savior.
